Can I text from my existing business phone number?
Yes โ€” that's the core idea. CalliText enables SMS messaging on your existing Callifi business phone number. Your customers text the same number they already call. Your team sees and replies from the shared team inbox. If you have a non-Callifi number, we can typically enable texting after porting it to our platform. Learn how number porting works.
Is inbound SMS really free?
Yes. For Callifi voice customers, inbound SMS โ€” messages your customers send to your business phone number โ€” is always free. It doesn't count toward your monthly outbound allowance. You only pay for messages your team sends out. This is one of the biggest cost differences between CalliText and competing SMS services that charge for every message in either direction.
Can my whole team see and reply to text conversations?
Yes. CalliText uses a shared team inbox โ€” every conversation is visible to all authorized users. Anyone on your team can reply, and customers see the response coming from the business phone number. Do I need a separate app, or can I use my phone's regular Messages app?

What is A2P 10DLC and why is it required?
A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code) is the framework US wireless carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) use to authorize businesses to send SMS to mobile phones. It was introduced to reduce spam and ensure legitimate business messaging gets delivered reliably. As of 2023, every US business that sends SMS to mobile phones must register their phone number and use case under the 10DLC framework. This is a federal requirement enforced by the carriers โ€” not a Callifi rule. Without 10DLC registration, your messages may be filtered, delayed, or blocked entirely by the carriers.
How much does A2P 10DLC registration cost?
The Callifi A2P 10DLC pricing is:

โ€ข $15/month maintenance fee โ€” keeps your registration active with the carriers. This is an ongoing carrier requirement, not optional. If maintenance stops, your registration becomes inactive and messages will be filtered or blocked.

Both fees are passed through from the carrier ecosystem with Callifi handling all the paperwork and submissions on your behalf.
What happens if I don't register for 10DLC?
Your messages will be filtered, throttled, or blocked by US wireless carriers. Some messages may appear to send from your end but never reach the recipient. Some may arrive after long delays. Some may be flagged as spam by the carrier and never delivered. The carriers actively filter unregistered business SMS, and the filtering has become more aggressive every year. To send business text messages reliably in the US in 2026, A2P 10DLC registration is not optional โ€” it's the cost of doing business.
How long does 10DLC registration take?
Typical approval time is 1-3 business days from submission. Callifi files the paperwork on your behalf โ€” you provide basic business information (legal name, EIN, address, expected message use case and volume) and we handle the rest. Some industries (gambling, cannabis, debt collection, payday loans) face longer review times or restrictions. Most NYC businesses get approved without issues.
Does the 10DLC fee apply if I only receive (inbound) texts?
No. The 10DLC framework only applies to outbound A2P (business-to-customer) messages. If you only want to receive inbound texts from customers โ€” for example, to let customers text questions to your business number that you'll respond to via phone โ€” you don't need 10DLC registration. And as a Callifi voice customer, inbound SMS to your business number is always free. 10DLC is only required when you want to send outbound business messages.
Can I cancel the 10DLC registration if I stop texting?
Yes. If you decide you no longer need outbound business texting, you can stop paying the $15/month maintenance fee and your registration becomes inactive. You can also resume by re-registering (subject to the $70 fee again). If you're not sure whether you'll use texting heavily, we recommend testing with the free 100-message tier first and registering when you confirm it's a fit for your business.
