How it works in practice

Your operator provisions your phone numbers into the Operator Connect framework. From your side, numbers show up in the Teams admin center where you assign them to users, auto attendants, and call queues like any other Teams resource. Calls flow: caller → carrier network → Microsoft's peering → your user's Teams apps on desktop, mobile, and desk phones. Porting your existing business numbers in works the same as any carrier port — typically a few business days, with no downtime when managed properly.

What it costs

You still need Teams Phone licensing from Microsoft (bundled in some enterprise plans, an add-on otherwise), plus the operator's per-user or per-line calling rate.
